I am unable to setup the ethernet connection and from what I understand from researching the driver, this should be alx and just install using modprobe.  · In the gentoo handbook they mention that genkernel all will configure the kernel nearly as the installation CD. That's why I am surprised that the network works while installing but not afterwards. During install eth0 works just fine. (net-setup eth0 worked also).

Get it from Atheros alx Ethernet driver and follow the instructions. Gentoo users get the driver with compat-wireless from the pentoo overlay! Update: Fixed in pentoo overlay (compat-wireless) The guys at pentoo overlay were really responsive. – Just a talk on IRC and proposing some patches was all it took! alx module is now always.

After downloading, unzip it to get the directory:alx-linux-v 24 compat-driversrcsu or compat-driversu with kernelgentoo on Gentoo Linux still not working. alx: Unknown symbol. In addition, I have activated the driver for "Atheros device / Qualcomm Atheros ARx / ARx" as a module.
